Miriam - Our Community
Miriam has been an Ascot Vale Leisure Centre member for over 20 years.
Miram’s journey first began when she decided to give up smoking and get fit. She started in the gym and group fitness classes, with group cardio training soon becoming Miriam's go-to exercise. Then, when Coaching Zone was introduced, she completed a trial and became hooked!
At 64 years of age, Miriam remains a regular at the centre. Her weekly regime includes 2 RPM sessions, 2 - 3 Coaching Zone sessions and 2 one-hour personal training sessions.
Coaching Zone sessions are now a favourite of hers. The challenging, small group classes allow for Miriam to achieve results and feel supported along the way. Miriam has formed many friendships and loves the social side of exercising. Miriam said, ‘I can’t walk into AV without saying hi to at least 3-4 people before I get to the change room. I love that!’
The hard work Miriam puts in has left her feeling stronger and leaner than ever. When she was dealing with injuries, the coaches helped to substitute exercises for Miriam, allowing her to still get the workout she was looking for. And, her high-intensity Coaching Zone sessions have also solved the struggle she had with maintaining her ideal weight.
Miriam's future goals are to maintain her current level of fitness and strength. For Miriam, she wants to ‘train smart’ and remain as injury-free as possible with the guidance of the staff at Ascot Vale.
Exercising has become an integral part of Miriam’s daily routine and a way of life. Miriam explained, ‘I love CZ and the classes I do. I love the many people I have come to know over my time at Ascot Vale, some of which have become very dear close friends. My physio always says I’m amazing for someone my age and will reap the benefits as I grow older. All I can say is that it better be true!’
